In the middle of November R.U.R. started to work on a the Freia commercial. We have been asked to come with some concept for commercial, so Jan Bubenicek thought out nice screenplay, together with director and agency. Then we drew few versions of storyboard and concepts. After all the 3d work has begun. We had approximately one month to finish this, quite big, ad. So it was obvious that we’ll not be able to finish it all in brute force 3d, because of human and rendering resources. We decided to make first and last scene with combination of 3d model, lighting pass on pure shade model and then few matte paintings, all that stuff was then projected on physical 3d geometry in nuke. Second two shots were completely made in 3d (except real hand), with several enhancements with nuke 3d comps. My task on this project was helping guys in the beginning with few stuff and then some modeling. But mainly I was shading and rendering resources for first and last shot, and then comping all together in nuke, making some enhancements and preparing for final composition magic. I also made materials and lighting for third shot. Enjoy!
